Sixth form - an introduction

In choosing to join North Somerset Enterprise and Technology College (NSETC) for years 12 and 13, students are starting out on an exciting new stage in their education within a specialised Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) and business environment.

Your personalised pathway

One of the unique aspects of NSETC is our ability to personalise a student’s pathway, to make sure we equip them with what they need for their next step and stand out from the crowd in applications and interviews.

As early as possible we will identify students’ career or education aspirations and look at what they will need to reach their goals.

Each student is given a mentor who will review the different courses available to them, based upon prior attainment and predicted grades. The mentor will then build a personalised action plan to maximise their chances of achieving a place at university, an apprenticeship or a job.

As there are so many different career opportunities at different levels there are a range of different entry points and qualifications. The three routes we offer are:

  1. A Levels - please click here to view our selection.
  2. Vocational pathway – BTEC and IMI diplomas - please click here to view our selection.

Or

  1. A mixture of both A Levels and Diploma. For example, a student could take Biology A Level alongside a Level 3 diploma in Health and Social Care, offering an excellent route into a degree in adult nursing, and potentially leading to a career as a highly-paid NHS nursing consultant.

What happens when you apply?

After we have received an application form an advice and guidance meeting will be arranged so students will have the opportunity to discuss what’s best for them. Ahead of this meeting if you need help or have questions, please call 01934 411 611.
