The NSETC is a school which runs along business lines and it is important that all members of the school, both students and staff, reflect this in what they wear.  Within the school there is a dress code which will enable you to feel comfortable both whilst studying and within formal business situations or meetings with school business partners:

Male dress code:

  • Dark plain or pinstripe suit – black, blue, brown, or grey
  • Plain or striped shirt
  • Tie – plain or patterned; no pictures/cartoons
  • V-neck or crew neck sweater – dark, plain
  • Smart dark shoes

Female dress code:

  • Dark plain or pinstripe suit – black, blue, brown, or grey
  • Smart shirt or top
  • V-neck or crew neck sweater – dark, plain
  • Smart dark shoes, boots or sandals (in summer) low to medium height heels (max 3”); no flip-flops
  • Where worn for religious observance, headscarves should be plain black, blue, brown, grey or white

The following are NOT acceptable: 

  • Casual t-shirts
  • Mini-skirts
  • Strappy tops
  • Tops with writing
  • Plunging necklines
  • Fashion skirts
  • Aertex polo shirts
  • Denim, corduroy
  • Tight stretchy skirts
  • Rugby shirts
  • Cropped tops
  • Hoodies
  • T-shirts worn underneath unbuttoned shirts

For all students:

  • Clothing to be worn in a smart manner eg. shirts not below sweater
  • Hair must be worn in a style appropriate for a business environment - hair colour should be within the normal range of natural hair colours. No excessive spiking, shaped or shaved styles
  • Jewellery should be discreet. The only jewellery permitted is a watch, a single flat ring, a simple chain necklace, and a maximum of two small earring studs per ear.  Facial piercings are not permitted.
  • Minimal, natural look make-up and nail varnish only
